As always, the Greater New York Alumni Council (GNYIAC) sets forth to carry out the UNCF's mission which is, "to enhance the quality of education by providing financial assistance to deserving students, raising operating funds for member colleges and universities, and increasing access to technology for students and faculty at historically black colleges and universities (HCBUS)." For the past seventeen years the GNYIAC has held a Martin Luther Kings, Jr. Awards Breakfast on his birthday. This coming year we plan to do the same.

    I am a firm believer in the idealogy that one must seek knowledge from the cradle to the grave. Having come from a home that experienced financial difficulties I understand just how hard this feat can be. I thank God for programs such as this and HEOP that afford individuals who face financial difficulties the opportunity to achieve a collegiate education. UNCF has done many a great things when it comes to this and I feel it pertinent that I offer my support which is why I will be there!
